Abstract

Background: Babies experience a critical period in their development. Stimulus is needed to optimize infant development. Swimming therapy is one of the safe exercises to stimulate infant motor development. Objective: To analyze the relationship between swimming therapy and infant motor development at Little Bee Baby SPA, Dian Lestari Clinic. Research method: The design of this study was a cross-sectional study. This study used a consecutive sampling technique for one month with a sample size of 21 infants aged 2-12 months at LITTLE BEE Baby Spa, Dian Lestari Clinic. The independent variable in this study was swimming therapy and the dependent variable was infant motor development. This study collected data using swimming therapy observation sheets and Denver II for infant motor development. This study used Spearman's rho analysis with a significance level of p <0.05. Research Results: The results showed that swimming therapy at LITTLE BEE Baby Spa was in a good category (85.7%), moderate (9.5%), and poor (4.8%). Infant motor development was mostly normal. There is a correlation between swimming therapy and infant motor development (p = 0.017; r = 0.516). This study concludes that swimming therapy is significantly related to infant motor development. Regular swimming therapy will optimize infant motor development. Further research is needed to analyze the correlation between swimming therapy and infant personal social and language development.
